Hot Chocolate, Fireplaces & Snowy Towels: Our Stay at Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa ⛷️🍪🔥
By: Two Ski-Tired Kids and One Humidifier-Obsessed Dad
After long days of skiing down the slopes, we were always excited to head back to the Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa in Avon, Colorado. This place had everything we needed to warm up, wind down, and get ready to do it all again the next day — especially hot tubs, hot chocolate, and big fluffy couches!
Après-Ski Heaven: Hot Chocolate Bar + Fireplace Hangouts ☕🍫
As soon as we walked into the lobby, we made a beeline to the make-your-own hot chocolate bar. It had everything: giant marshmallows, whipped cream, candy canes, and warm cookies. We’d load up our mugs, then crash on the huge couches by the fireplace or play a game before heading upstairs.
Comfy Room = Ski Views, Laundry Wins & Humidifier Hype 🛏️🧺
- 🧺 Washer & dryer in the room? Total mom win.
- 💨 Built-in humidifiers? Dad turned them on before we even got our boots off.
- 🎿 View of the chairlift = we could watch early skiers while still in our pajamas.
We slept in the living room on a rollaway bed, and Mom and Dad had their own separate room. After a full day of skiing, all we wanted was a cozy blanket and the TV remote.
Fuel Up: Nutella Waffles & a Shuttle to the Slopes 🧇🚌
Breakfast each morning was at the hotel’s awesome buffet — and yes, there was Nutella! Between the waffles, muffins, cereal, eggs, and fruit, we were totally ready to hit the mountain.
The local ski shuttle picked us up just outside the hotel. On our first day, it was too full when it got to us (uh oh!), so we had to wait for the next one. After that, we got smart and came down earlier to grab a seat. It was only a 10-minute ride to the lifts from there!
Hot Tubs, Pools & Frozen Towels 😅🛁❄️
Each night after dinner, it was pool time — and not just any pool. There were FOUR hot tubs and a big heated pool. We had a blast running between the hot tub and pool (even though Mom and Dad kept telling us to slow down 😆). Watching the snow fall at night from the hot tub was magical… until we realized our towels had been covered in snow and were now totally frozen!
Right next to the pool is a huge gym that really impressed our parents. Dad even went a few times to stretch out after skiing (aka, “rolling out” his sore back with a giant foam roller).
Final Thoughts: The Perfect Ski Hotel for Families 🏔️❤️
From the hot chocolate bar and snow-covered hot tubs to mountain views and ski shuttle convenience, the Westin Riverfront was the perfect home base for our ski trip. We stayed warm, well-fed, and super comfy all week — and can’t wait to come back!
Pro tip: Get to the shuttle early, stash your towels under a chair, and always go back for a second marshmallow!
