Riding the Silver Lake Dunes in a UTV (Hang On, Mom!) ๐๏ธ๐
By: A Speed-Loving Kid (and One Cautious Mom ๐ )
Last week we rented a boat to check out the water near Silver Lake State Park, but today it was all about the sand โ and SPEED! We rented a UTV from Sunbuggy Fun Rentals to explore the Silver Lake Sand Dunes and it was one wild ride!
(*Charlie decided to sit this one out, so this review is only 50% Z-certified.)
Getting Geared Up: Helmets, Safety Videos & Sand Rules
Before we could take off, Dad had to watch a vehicle safety video (which felt like forever, but we know itโs important). Then we got our helmets, strapped in tight, and headed to the dunes.
The sand dunes are HUGE and theyโre always changing shape because of the wind. That makes it feel like a new adventure every time you drive through โ like being on a rollercoaster made of sand!
Conquering the Dunes (Sort Of) ๐
At first, itโs a little scary โ the hills are steep, and you canโt always see whatโs on the other side. But after a few minutes, it turns into a total blast. Dad LOVED driving the UTV โ even if Mom kept yelling โSLOW DOWN!โ every five minutes. ๐
It was super fun watching other people try to climb the dunes, especially when their cars didnโt make it and had to back down slowly (and sometimes sideways!).
We didnโt flip, crash, or get stuck โ so weโre calling that a WIN!
Final Thoughts: A Must-Do Dune Adventure
If you’re in the area and want something with more speed than a paddleboard or kayak, renting a UTV is the way to go. Sunbuggy Fun Rentals made it easy and safe for families โ and it’s something weโll never forget.
Even if Charlie didnโt join us this time, we think heโll be ready for the dunes next year (once he sees the pictures!).
Just remember: buckle up, hold tight, and try not to yell at Dad too much! ๐
