Pontoon Boating, Sand-Angels & Dune Sprints at Silver Lake! ⛵🐾🏖️
By: Two Kids, One Boat, and One Very Sandy Dog
If you’ve never seen the sand dunes at Silver Lake, put it on your list — they’re MASSIVE and super fun to explore. And while there are lots of ways to check them out, our favorite was renting a pontoon boat from Wave Club Water Sports.
Bonus: It’s pet-friendly, so our dog Nacho got to come too! Tubing, fishing, climbing dunes, and making sand-angels? Best day ever.
All Aboard with Wave Club Water Sports 🚤🐶
The crew at Wave Club Water Sports was super friendly and helped us get set up fast. The boat was clean, easy to drive (according to Dad), and had plenty of space for snacks, towels, and Nacho’s doggy life jacket.
We started out tubing and fishing on Silver Lake, and then cruised over to the base of the dunes where we could dock and explore. Seeing the dunes from the water is a whole different kind of awesome.
Dune Climbing = Cardio With a View 🏃⛰️
Once we anchored the boat, it was time to climb. The dunes are HUGE, and running up them is no joke — it’s basically a workout, but way more fun. Especially with Nacho racing us to the top!
We ran up, slid down, raced each other, and even rolled part of the way. After about a dozen climbs (yes, seriously), we flopped onto the sand and made sand-angels while the breeze cooled us down.
The sand was super soft and fine — like beach sand but better. We may have brought half of it back into the boat, too… sorry, Dad.
Final Thoughts: One Sandy, Sunny, Perfect Day
Pontoon boating on Silver Lake is a must-do, especially if you have a dog and love a mix of chill time and adventure. Between the tubing, fishing, climbing, and sand-angeling, this day checked every box.
10/10 would boat, climb, and sand-roll again. Just bring extra towels!
